What Have We Been Up To?

I know it has been a few weeks since my last posting. Bad me! I have been super busy with school and home. We haven't done too many interesting things, but I have a few to add.

Craig made the executive decision to purchase a self-cleaning cat litter box called the Cat Genie. I will say that I was not on board at first, but it is really nice. Shhh! Don't tell him I said that:) The only issue that we have had is that the cats didn't really want to use it at first. There was definitely a break-in period (if you know what I mean?) Now the cats use it most of the time and it cleans itself. No more scooping poop!

It looks like a tiny cat-sized toilet!

My parents visited over the weekend and my Mom and I did a little shopping. I found a few great things on sale. One of which was some new pillow cases from West Elm. I have ad my eye on them for a while. To my amazement, I found them on sale for half the price! They look really good in my room.
I bought the blue ones. They just happen to match my quilt perfectly. Pictures soon.

Where Were You 10 Years Ago?

I will never forget September 11, 2001. I had just moved to Tennessee for my first job in marketing. I had not found a place to live yet, so I was staying with a friend in Clarksville. I was eating breakfast that morning, when I turned the television on and saw the horrible pictures. I couldn't believe my eyes. I was stunned and paralyzed on the couch. I knew that something horrific had just happened.
Clarksville is the home of Fort Campbell, a military base. I knew that the events I was seeing meant that many of those soldiers would be leaving for the Middle East. I also knew that this meant that many families would have to say goodbye to their loved ones. For some, it was forever.
This morning, I turned on the T.V. and thought about how so many things have changed in ten years. Here are some things I came up with.
  • I am now married to a wonderful, caring man.
  • I am now a teacher. In 2001, I had just graduated (in August) and moved to Nashville for my first marketing job.
  • I live in Nashville, TN and have lived here for 10 years!
  • You could go to the airport and it didn't take forever to get through security and you could take full bottles of toiletries with you.
  • I sure didn't blog in 2001. It wasn't really a term then.
  • IPhones were not invented.
I am sure there are many more, but these are just a few that came to mind. I hope that on this day, you take time to reflect on where you were and what you were doing. Luckily for me, I kept a newspaper that I picked up that afternoon. It sits in one of my files that will be stored away forever.

Amazing Change

I know I should have posted this way sooner, but for some reason, I haven't. Could it be that I have been really busy? Could it be that I couldn't come up with the words to describe my excitement? Maybe both? Well, finally for the great wall reveal......Are you ready? Most of my family has seen many pictures. I really believe that we have added so much curb appeal to our house. The old wall was atrocious. It was like a big giant pink elephant in front of our house. Now, the new wall gently flows with the house. It sure was a dusty mess, but the end product is great. I hope you like it as much as we do!

The entire wall fell down in one piece when the crew tried to remove it.

So much better!

I love the pillars by the walkway. They are new.

Isn't it great? They seeded our yard, so it looks 100% better than it does in this picture.
