Wicker Chair Find

As many of my closest friends and family know, I have been looking for the perfect wicker-style chair for my house. I am a self-proclaimed cheap-o, so I have yet to purchase the almost $300 chair that I spotted at Pier 1 months ago. I have tried to find impersonators, but Craig wouldn't budge on buying anything. So, last week before leaving for the beach, my father-in-law told Craig that he wanted him to sell their wicker patio furniture on Craiglist (no relation.) I perked up and said "wicker furniture?" I had never paid too much attention to the furniture because it is always covered up under their covered patio. We went to take the pictures for Craigslist and I loved the chair. It came with an ottoman that I really don't need, but I took it anyway. Craig agreed that he liked it too, so we loaded it in the back of the truck, drove back to our house, cleaned it up a tad, and now it is in my bedroom awaiting its makeover. We plan to paint it a darker color and possible get a new cushion. They always say "good things come to those who wait." This time, I really believe that I got a bargain and a great chair!
Before she got a new paint job.

After...much better color!

Right now, Guinness likes to sleep on the ottoman. I will eventually put it to use somewhere else.

This is a shoutout to Craig!

As many of you know, it has been a long two years for Craig (and me!) He graduated nursing school in May and continued to study for the NCLEX (nursing boards.) He took the test on Tuesday with much anxiety. He didn't sleep Tuesday night and he paced around the house all day on Wednesday. Thursday he worked and I got a phone call at 2:00 sharp saying "I passed the NCLEX. I am now an official RN!" I am so proud of him. It has not been easy for either of us. Especially Craig. He is not used to so much stress and studying. He begins his new journey as an RN at Vanderbilt on July 11. I know he will be the best nurse and he will love each and every day of his new career. Congrats and good luck to you!

School's Out For Summer!

School has been officially out for 2 days now. Crazy enough, most of that time has spent in front of the television. For those of you who know me, you might say "what?" I will explain. I have done all of my chores; grocery shopping, clothes shopping, washing clothes, vacuuming, changed the sheets on the bed, cleaned out the fridge, and oh, ya, today I got really domestic and cleaned all the windows and siding on the back of the house. Yesterday, I even got a massage to alleviate the pain in my shoulder. I talked myself into sitting on the couch to rest for most of the afternoon. I didn't want to mess up the great massage that I got. I did get to catch up on The Real Housewives of OC. I am not sure why I watch that garbage, but somehow it pulled me in. We'll see what the rest of the summer brings. On my agenda for next week is a much needed hair trim and a trip to McKay's used books to buy a book for my nephew who hates reading. I am also looking forward to our upcoming beach trip to PC Beach. With only a short break from school this year, I hope I can make the best of every day and relax as much as possible!
