We just got back from a wonderful Fall Break trip to the Great Smoky Mountains with the fam. We stayed at the Wilderness at the Smoky's Resort. It came equipped with an indoor water park. Despite one day of bad weather, we had a great trip.
The first night, we ate at The Smoky Mountain Brewery. Plenty of beer was consumed. The next day we headed to Gatlinburg to see the beautiful fall colors. We ate at Bubba Gump's for lunch where Craig devoured way too much shrimp. We then headed up the mountain where we hiked on a nature trail (mom in sandals and I in my flip flops.) Needless to say, we were not prepared for the treacherous trail. Neither of us hurt anything, but it was 85 that day and we were all hot and tired. After a rigorous day of sightseeing, we headed back to the resort to get ready for dinner. We took a side trip to the wonderful outlet mall and then headed to No Way Jose's to eat Mexican food. I ate too much and went straight to bed when we got back to the resort.
On our last day, it was rainy and turned cold. It was only 52 degrees! The temperature dropped 25 degrees in one day. I am glad I was prepared with my boots and long sleeves. Most of our day was spent at the indoor water park. We went down many water slides and even got in the wave pool. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. After eating a really expensive (not so exciting) lunch, we went back to the condo to warm up. We then headed up the mountain for some more sight-seeing. It was rainy, but we still enjoyed the sights. After a long day, we were ready to eat at one of our favorite restaurants in the Smoky's; Applewood Farms. It was delicious! Once again, we all ate too much.
I can't wait to go back again next year. We had a blast! Pics will be posted soon.
